Oskar Vind ahead of friendly debut: “I’m really looking forward to it”

The first week of training is over, the opening sessions have been completed – now it’s time to get back into action. For new signing Oskar Vind, the first appearance in the jersey of SC Magdeburg is getting closer.
“The first few days in Magdeburg were very good and eventful for me – but also a little hectic. I think it takes some time to get used to a new country, a new city, a new team and the daily routines here. But that’s also exciting and I’m looking forward to starting this chapter with SCM,” says new SCM right winger Oskar Vind, looking back on his days in Magdeburg so far. “You notice during training that the players here are among the best in the world. They are also very nice and helpful and have taken good care of me as a new player.”
As one of five new signings, the 23-year-old has quickly settled into the team and has even been able to get to know the city a little better. The Dane is particularly fond of the Elbe and the parks. “When I moved, my parents were here with me. We borrowed bicycles and saw a lot of the city,” Vind reports. “We drove a lot along the river. Magdeburg is a really beautiful and green city. I like that very much.”
FRIENDLIES AGAINST COBURG AND OPOLE
But instead of the sights, the focus is now once again on sports. After the first training sessions, the first test match will take place on Wednesday in Halle at the BWG Cup against HSC Coburg 2000 (17:30 CEST, live stream on volksstimme.de). The Upper Franconians finished ninth in the second division last season and want to attack the top five this season with coach Anel Mahmutefendic. In the first test against ThSV Eisenach, however, Coburg had to admit defeat after a solid first half with 23:39 (14:16).
“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s always fun to play games again. And the first game of the season with a new team is something special anyway. That’s what we train for – to compete with others,” says Vind.
Meanwhile, the second test match is not long in coming. Already on Saturday, the journey leads through Saxony-Anhalt to Ilsenburg, where the opponent is Corotop Gwardia Opole (3 p.m., live stream on volksstimme.de). At the meeting with the club from the Polish Superliga, there will be a reunion with an old acquaintance: The coach in Opole is Bartosz Jurecki, who wore the jersey of SC Magdeburg for nine years and earned a place in the Hall of Fame of the Green-Reds with his tireless efforts.
