SC Magdeburg wins in the Opel Handball Bundesliga against HSG Wetzlar with 38:30. The reactions and statistics of the game.

HSG coach Rúnar Sigtryggsson: “Congratulations on the deserved victory. From our point of view, we couldn’t keep up, especially in defence. Magdeburg played with us there. In attack, we couldn’t counter any more – even if we do well with the seventh outfield player. In the second half, SCM can then play it down.”

SCM coach Bennet Wiegert: “Our first half was the basis for everything. With the defence, the way we force them into positional play and then go up the tempo ourselves – that was great. After the break, we managed the result a little too much and didn’t bring as much intensity to the pitch. That’s a point where we can improve. Nevertheless, there are more positives than negatives. Above all, however, we got the next points, which can be worth a lot. A win in the Bundesliga is anything but normal.”

Lukas Mertens: “We dominated the game very strongly from the start. That’s what we had planned. We played at a good pace and 38 goals speak for themselves. We can continue to build on that. We’re slowly getting into the flow. That’s also important because we still have two games a week. Now it’s time to sleep again, regenerate and play handball.”
