SC Magdeburg wins the derby in the Daikin Handball Bundesliga at SC DHfK Leipzig 36-23. The reactions and statistics of the game.

Coach of SC DHfK, Raul Alonso: “Congratulations on the deserved victory. That was what you expect from SCM. I have to admit that. We got off to a good start, but then it stops quickly. It’s not the first time that we don’t manage to stay mentally in the game. And a team like Magdeburg makes it really difficult for you. We don’t sell ourselves the way we want to in a derby – especially at home.”

Bennet Wiegert: “I think we were extremely ready for the derby today. We know from our own experience that standings don’t play a role there. That there is more to win for the fans in such a game than two points. At the beginning the game is a bit tighter, but then we can quickly move away and get security. The others wear themselves out, we score the quick goals – that can be gruelling. It feels extremely good for us now and is anything but a matter of course.”

Philipp Weber: “The win feels great. Our plan worked out and we played it well. It’s always fun to come here. The atmosphere was great and taking two points from the derby makes it even better, of course.”
