Match Report

SC Magdeburg wins clearly against Bergischer HC

Matej Mandic celebrates
Man of the Match vs. BHC: Matej Mandic

Still unbeaten in the Daikin Handball Bundesliga! SC Magdeburg wins the next game and wins at home against Bergischer HC 39-30 (19-16).

This is how a game can start: SCM provoked four turnovers by the opponent with its strong defense-goalkeeper cooperation, and it was 4-0 after a good five minutes played, because in return the ball was successfully placed in the goal each time. Only then could the guests celebrate their first goal.

In the following minutes, however, the Bergisch team caught up and came up to 7-6 (14th). However, Magdeburg’s weak phase did not last long, and shortly afterwards coach Bennet Wiegert’s team was clearly ahead again (15-10, 24th) – and was able to distribute the burden on several shoulders. With 19 goals at half-time, the team once again demonstrated its offensive strength.

However, SCM was by no means error-free, so that BHC reduced the deficit to 20-19 (33rd) after the break. In the 39th minute, however, Lukas Mertens converted after a steal to make it 24-20, after which Matej Mandic parried several opponent’s shots, while Omar Ingi Magnusson and twice Elvar Örn Jonsson increased the lead again (27-20, 41st).

So the feature film continued until the end. Mandic parried at the back, and the net was netted on the other side. At the 45th minute, SCM was in the lead with eight (29-21), a good ten minutes later with ten (37-27, 57th). Although the BHC looked for its chances until the end, the scoreboard finally announced a clear 39-30.

This means that SCM remains unbeaten after the seventh HBL game this season.
