It was an energetic start. HSV set up, Magdeburg’s Magnus Saugstrup followed up over the circle, Hamburg scored again, again the answer came over the circle – the opening phase in the Barclays Arena was tough. The decision was only made shortly before the final whistle. Magnusson scored in the 50th minute to take the lead for the first time and score the 25-24. It was also the Icelander who scored his 15th goal to make it 29-27 (56th) and once again paved the way to victory.
