What makes handball special for you?

What appeals to me most is playing with the rules – this fine line between a foul and what is still allowed. You have certain guidelines, but you also have a certain amount of leeway. It’s about exploring the limits and still remaining fair. In addition, there is the high pace, the physicality and the many different situations on the pitch. Handball demands everything from you in every respect – and that’s a lot of fun.

What do most people on the pitch overlook that makes you who you are?

I think I’m quite easy to read when I play handball. With me, you know where you stand. I don’t hide or try to do things that aren’t my strengths. I’m just myself – on and off the pitch.

Your tip for young up-and-coming handball players?

Take the ball in your hand, try things out and have fun with it. You can do so much with the ball – that’s exactly what makes handball so exciting. Of course, the rules are also part of it. They may seem a bit complicated at first, but when you’re young, you learn quickly. And especially as a child, that’s not the most important thing. It is crucial that you develop fun in handball.
