Just back, we continue again. SC Magdeburg will play at Dessau-Roßlauer HV for a place in the round of 16 of the DHB Cup. This means that the next derby is just around the corner.

It was not until late Sunday evening that Bennet Wiegert’s team returned to Magdeburg by bus after the clear 36-23 win at SC DHfK Leipzig , and the next training session was already on the schedule on Monday morning: video preparation for the make-up game of the second round of the DHB Cup at Dessau-Roßlauer HV on Tuesday (7 p.m. / DYN).

The second division team had prevailed in the first round at TuS Vinthorst with 31:28. In the league, coach Vanja Radić’s team is currently in 4th place, but is currently only behind the second and third-placed teams in goal difference with four minus points.

“This is a cup game, a lot can happen and Dessau has made a strong start to the season. This is a very important competition for us. We want to pick up where we left off,” said Wiegert, who is unbeaten in 13 games with SCM in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season.

For the Green-Reds, it is the start of a Mammu Week. On Tuesday they travel to Dessau, on Thursday HC Eurofarm Pellister is a guest (20:45 CEST, tickets) and on Sunday the club is challenged in the league at TSV Hannover Burgdorf. “It definitely won’t be boring,” says coach Bennet Wiegert. “There is not much time to train. But we want to prepare ourselves as well as possible for every opponent. For me, it’s a question of mindset. We’ll now power through and then make sure to always be there on point.”

Meanwhile, it has already been decided who the winner of the cup match will face in the round of sixteen. In the draw, TV Großwallstadt was assigned as an opponent for the match on 5/6 November. The quarter-finals will then be played on 17/18 December, the Lidl Final4 will take place on 18 and 19 April 2026.
