The last game in the Daikin Handball Bundesliga has been played, the championship trophy has been handed over – but the celebrations continue for SC Magdeburg. The city of Magdeburg honors the team in the Old Town Hall.

Coach Bennet Wiegert’s team finished the 2025/26 season in the Daikin Handball Bundesliga with only four minus points – one defeat and two draws – and thus secured the German championship with a nine-point lead. With the strongest defense and one of the most effective attacking lines including the fewest technical errors, SCM was able to celebrate the title before the end of the season.

With the deserved win of the championship, the handball players of the SCM have once again proven their performance and, above all, their continuity. I congratulate the team on this impressive success!” congratulated Magdeburg’s Lord Mayor Simone Borris, who also took part in the ceremony for the official presentation of the cup after the last home game.

In a press release, the city also announced that the team as well as the coach and support team will be welcomed back to the Old Town Hall at the end of the match season on June 8 (6 p.m.) and will be honored with an entry in the Golden Book of the state capital. “The handball players will again present themselves to the fans on the town hall balcony. But first we keep our fingers crossed that the SCM handball players will also defend the title in the Champions League,” said Borris.

The TruckScout24 EHF FINAL4 in the Machineseeker EHF Champions League will then take place on 13 and 14 June. There, the Magdeburgers will meet the Füchse Berlin in the semi-finals.
