The semi-finals are set! The European Handball Federation (EHF) drew the fixtures for the TruckScout24 EHF FINAL4 on Tuesday. An explosive duel awaits SC Magdeburg.

Defending champions SC Magdeburg, record winners FC Barcelona and last year’s runners-up Füchse Berlin – all have qualified for the TruckScout24 EHF FINAL4 as they did last year. The group of opponents will be completed on June 13 and 14 in Cologne by Aalborg Håndbold, who are fighting for the title in Cologne for the third time.

For Bennet Wiegert’s team, it is the fourth consecutive participation in the final weekend. During this time, the trophy was brought to the Elbe twice. In order to fulfill the dream of the European crown again, however, the semi-finals must first be won – and for this game league rivals Füchse Berlin have been drawn as opponents. The semi-finals are thus the repeat of last year’s final and at the same time a duel that has repeatedly caused drama in the Bundesliga in the past.

“It’s going to be an exciting game. All of them are strong teams – any club would have been a tough draw. So it’s a team that we know very well and that has played a strong season. That will be a difficult challenge. But I’m looking forward to this weekend. We’ve been to Cologne a few times and want to be successful there again,” Magdeburg captain Christian O’Sullivan classifies the duel.

The second semi-final will be played between Aalborg Håndbold and FC Barcelona.
