Christian O'Sullivan has been inducted into the SCM Hall of Fame

An SC Magdeburg without Christian O’Sullivan – that is hard to imagine. The Norwegian international shaped the club for over a decade and became a central figure in the most successful era in the club’s recent history.
On the Elbe, the backcourt player won almost everything there is to win in club handball: EHF European League (2021), IHF Super Globe (2021, 2022, 2023), EHF Champions League (2023, 2025), DHB Cup (2024) and the German Championship (2022, 2024, 2026).
But this collection of titles only tells part of his story. O’Sullivan came to Magdeburg in 2016 from Swedish first division club IFK Kristianstad – initially as a young playmaker with development potential who wanted to assert himself in the Bundesliga. What followed was a continuous rise to an important personnel in the Magdeburg squad. It became the engine that sets the pace and structure. Someone who took SCM’s transition game to a new level.
Over the years, the Norwegian not only grew athletically, but also became a figure of identification. As captain, he led the team with consistency, calmness and a clear attitude through sporting and emotionally demanding phases. A “silent leader” – not loud, but all the more reliable. It is not without reason that he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of SC Magdeburg.
“The time in Magdeburg was something very special for me. I have not only achieved everything here in terms of sport, but also made many friends. It was an honour to play for this club and it’s hard to leave. I am proud of what we have built here together. All of this fills me with great gratitude,” says Christian O’Sullivan.
