YoungsterS narrowly lose in Aue at the start of the season

In the first game of the season of the North-East season, the YoungsterS were away to EHV Aue. Despite a good performance, the team had to admit defeat to the promotion favorite 30:32 (16:16).
From the beginning, a balanced game developed, in which the Magdeburgers kept up well against the hosts. At half-time, everything was still open at 16:16. Tim Thielicke and Noah Hensen in particular were convincing in the duels, prevailed again and again and rewarded themselves with goals of their own.
After the change of ends, the YoungsterS initially found it difficult to get back into the game. Aue used the second half and was able to gain a lead. But the Magdeburgers fought their way back into the game. Goalkeeper Oskar also showed a strong performance and kept his team in the game with several saves. In the end, however, the host remained the slightly stronger team and secured the home victory with 32:30. “We played a good game. We just had to play a little better for the opponent,” coach Christoph Theuerkauf summed up after the game.
Theuerkauf saw potential for improvement above all in the tempo game as well as in the interaction on the outside positions and in the circle. Nevertheless, after the close start to the season, the positives outweighed the negatives. “That was still a good performance that we can build on,” Theuerkauf continued. Even though it was not enough for the first two points of the season in the end, the YoungsterS showed that they can keep up with a strong opponent.
The first home game of the season for the YoungsterS is already on Saturday, September 5. At 7 p.m., the Magdeburgers will host HV Grün-Weiß Werder. For the first home game of the new season, the team is looking forward to numerous support!
