The SCM YoungsterS remain unbeaten at home. In the second home game of the season, the Magdeburgers received Oranienburger HC and won 36-29 (18-15) after an initially difficult start.
The game started with some starting difficulties for the Magdeburgers, but after about 15 minutes and a time-out with adjustments to the game system, the YoungsterS found their way into the game better. The defense stabilized increasingly, and the moves were also successful in attack and were rewarded with goals.
Especially against the physically strong and tall squad of Oranienburger HC, the team relied on a high tempo. The YoungsterS used their speed consistently and dominated the tempo game. Goalkeeper Willi Lücke also showed a good performance and gave the team additional support.
As the game went on, the YoungsterS found their way into the game better and better. Malte Elze helped to prevent goals from being conceded with his stabilising defensive performance. Tim Thielicke, who joined the team again from the previous Bundesliga game, also showed himself to be rich in goals. Sebastian Bialas once again impressed with his leadership qualities in both defence and attack and took responsibility for the team.
Despite the initial difficulties, the Magdeburgers worked out a deserved 18-15 lead by half-time. The adjustments in the game and the consistent tempo game paid off.
After the change of ends, the YoungsterS were able to continuously extend their lead, so that the second half developed into an unchallenged half. In the end, there was a clear and deserved 36-29 home victory for the Magdeburgers.
“We showed again that we can turn around deficits if we stick to our match plan,” said coach Christoph Theuerkauf after the game.
With the second home win in a row, the YoungsterS draw a positive conclusion from the first three games of the season. “Second home game, second home win. A good start with the first three games, that’s a good yield,” Theuerkauf continued.
Due to the success, the SCM YoungsterS are now in 7th place in the table with 4:2 points.
The next home game is already next Saturday, September 19. At 7 p.m., the YoungsterS will host SV 04 Plauen-Oberlosa. Then there will be the next chance to extend the winning streak in front of their home crowd.
