Narrow defeat at the end of the season

The SCM YoungsterS lost their last game of the season at HC Eintracht Hildesheim despite a strong performance with 39:40 (22:20). With the away game in Hildesheim, the season of the YoungsterS now ends.

Over 52 minutes, the YoungsterS showed an intense performance. The game remained duel-oriented for long stretches, both in attack and defence. Especially in the first half, Magdeburg convinced with a strong performance in attack and went into the break with a 22-20 lead. It was only in the final phase that the Hildesheimers went one better. Two late goals conceded, including a seven-metre penalty, ultimately decided the game for HC.

“Great teamwork and good cohesion. Exactly the emotions to pass such a game. But in the end we had to admit defeat,” said coach Christoph Theuerkauf after the game.

Despite the narrow defeat, the YoungsterS can look back on a strong season. With 35 points, the team achieved its best performance of the past two years. In addition, the Magdeburgers were able to score at least one point against every team in the league, with the exception of Hildesheim and Braunschweig.
