When Nikola Portner moved from Chambéry Savoie HB to the Elbe in the summer of 2022, there was no telling how successful his journey with SCM would be. Since then, the club has won all major titles.

With his quick reactions on the line, good positional play and his active participation in transition play, he repeatedly set the tone and provided new impetus – first in a duo with Sergey Hernández and then also in addition to Matej Mandic.

Although his playing time has been shorter recently, he has always been involved in training and in the daily team structure. Even his early decision to leave the club at the end of this season did not change that.

“Those were wonderful years here in Magdeburg. It was an honour for me to be able to play here. Thanks to my teammates who helped me to become a better handball player and person. Thanks to everyone who believed in me,” says Portner as he says goodbye. “Magdeburg, SCM and the fans will always have a special place in my heart.”

In the future, the 32-year-old will continue his career elsewhere. SC Magdeburg would like to thank him for his commitment in recent years.
