Happy 40th, Bezo!
Marko Bezjak celebrates his 40th birthday today!

Today we are celebrating one of our alumni again. Magdeburg’s ex-playmaker Marko Bezjak celebrates his 40th birthday. All the best, Bezo!
Bezo was born on June 26, 1986 in Ptuj, in the former Yugoslavia. At the age of 18, he joined his first club RK Jeruzalem Ormoz for four years before moving to Gorenje Velenje, with whom he won the Slovenian championship in 2009, 2012 and 2013.
When it was clear that our former playmaker Stian Tönnesen would leave the club for home after the 2012/2013 season, SC Magdeburg signed the 1.84m tall backcourt player and brought the gifted playmaker to the traditional club on the Elbe. In the period from 2016 to 2023, Bezo collected numerous titles and trophies with SC Magdeburg. He won the DHB Cup with the Green-Reds in 2016, the EHF European League in 2021 and, for the first time in the club’s history, the IHF Super-Globe. The following year, the 2nd German championship title followed as well as another triumph in Saudi Arabia at the IHF Super-Globe.
On the last home match day of the 2022/23 season, after ten successful years, his jersey with the number 25 on the back was pulled under the hall roof and Bezo was inducted into the SC Magdeburg Hall of Fame. A few days later, Bezo crowned his last appearance in the green and red jersey by winning the EHF Champions League.
After his departure from Magdeburg, the 116-time Slovenian international played for 1 year in his homeland at RK NEXE Nasice and then moved to Germany again for one season to support HC Erlangen. After the 2024/25 season, he ended his active career.
