Döbbel and Bialas receive second match rights

“We are working with the youngsters to prepare the boys for the second and first division. Of course, it’s great that Basti and Niko are now taking this step – both for us as a club in terms of youth work and follow-up support, as well as for the two of them personally. The two have developed a lot in their first year with the men, score with a high work ethic, are very hardworking, meticulous in preparation and follow-up and generally very professional in their lifestyle. Now they are rewarding themselves for it,” says the coach of the youngsters Christoph Theuerkauf. “At the same time, it’s nice that we can fill the cooperation with Dessau with additional life and show that we can add boys when a player is out there.”

Döbbel has worn the SCM jersey since the age of twelve and made his squad debut in the Handball Bundesliga for Bennet Wiegert’s team last season in the away game in Kiel. The left-hander should provide relief especially in the backcourt. Bialas, who moved to Magdeburg from Northeim HC in 2023, is intended as a playmaker. Now the duo has the chance to gain important experience one league higher.

First and foremost, we are grateful to SC Magdeburg for giving us the opportunity to position ourselves more broadly in this somewhat tense personnel situation. The past has shown that many players from the SCM school have made their way into the 2nd HBL and beyond. I’m sure that this can also apply to Sebastian and Niklas.”
