Today we are celebrating one of our alumni again. Magdeburg’s ex-backcourt player Mads Christiansen celebrates his 40th birthday. All the best, Mads!

Mads was born on May 3, 1986 in Naestved, Denmark. He started his handball career with GOG Svendborg TGI, AaB Handbold and Team Tvis Holstebro. In 2013 he moved to Bjerringbro-Silkeborg and also became Danish champion in 2016.

In the 2016/17 season, Mads finally came to SC Magdeburg, where the 1.94m tall backcourt player wore the green and red jersey for three years. In 2019, he returned to his homeland and played for Aalborg from then on. There he won the Danish championship twice. Via Fredericia HK, he finally found his way to Aarhus, where he played the 2023/24 season and then ended his career.

Mads played a total of 117 international matches for Denmark and won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in 2016. He also won gold and silver at the 2012 and 2014 European Championships.

The SCM family congratulates and wishes you, dear Mads, all the best!
