What makes handball special for you?
I started the sport because I had very good friends who played handball. And the community is one point why I like it. In addition, there are the values that sport conveys. In handball, you are part of a team and fight for each other – and in a fair way. I like that.

What do most people on the pitch overlook that makes you who you are?
I don’t know if you can see it, but I’m a very natural guy. Very open and communicative. I’m very spontaneous and don’t like to argue with anyone. For me, it’s always about being friendly to everyone and making sure everyone gets along well.
Your tip for young up-and-coming handball players?
You have to be mentally stable. Many players have talent and quality – but not everyone has the attitude to get to the top. If you have the right mentality, it doesn’t matter what happens to you. You keep going, get up again after setbacks and don’t let yourself be distracted from your path. My eye surgery, for example, ultimately made me even stronger, I think.
