Successful Hummel Cup for the YoungsterS

At the Hummel Cup 2026, the SCM YoungsterS were able to celebrate a victory against SV Grün-Weiß Wittenberg. The team prevailed 41-31 (18-15) in the GETEC Arena and thus remains unbeaten in the fourth test match of the pre-season.
This year, SV Grün-Weiß Wittenberg spontaneously stepped in for the game. Although SV competes one league below the YoungsterS in the regional league, the opponent presented the Magdeburgers with some challenges. Especially in defence, it was important to defend the two-on-two consistently.
The task for the YoungsterS was clearly to win the game. A challenge that will continue to come up for the team in the coming season. Despite a few balls left behind, the team showed a committed performance. So it was already 18:15 for the Magdeburgers at halftime. Especially in the district defence, coach Christoph Theuerkauf still sees potential for improvement before the start of the season. Nevertheless, he is satisfied with the performance: “The best team building is victories. We’ve been doing well so far in pre-season with our friendlies.” In the end, a deserved 41-31 victory for the YoungsterS is on the scoreboard.
Goalkeeper Oskar Stieglitz in particular showed a strong performance and was an important support for the team. Elvis Kretzschmar and Mats Brigzinsky also brought a lot of quality into the game and were able to convince despite their later start to the preparation. “For the boys, it was a great crowd with many fans and a deserved victory,” Theuerkauf looks back on the game.
With the success, the YoungsterS remain unbeaten in the pre-season with four wins from four test matches. Now the start of the season is getting closer and closer. There are many familiar faces in the squad, and at the same time some new players have already been able to prove themselves in the test matches so far. The YoungsterS are thus going into the new season with self-confidence from the preparation.
