Second test, second win! In Ilsenburg, SC Magdeburg celebrates the next handball festival in Saxony-Anhalt and wins against Corotop Gwardia Opole 34-26 (15-11) on Saturday.

Entertainment was provided: marquee, numerous gastronomic facilities, shopping opportunities at the mobile fan shop of the SCM – a lot was done at the HV Ilsenburg to provide a fitting supporting program. The focus was of course on the game of the German champions against the Polish Superliga club, which is coached by ex-Magdeburg player Bartosz Jurecki .

And that’s when coach Benner Wiegert’s team got started right away. First captain Magnus Saugstrup scored and Albin Lagergren added: After three minutes played, it was 2-0. But then the team from Poland showed its class, made it 4:5 (8th) and the 1400 fans in the Harzlandhalle were offered a balanced encounter – at least in the meantime. Because SCM turned up the heat again. In the 20th minute, Noah Hensen scored via Kempa to make it 10-7 and also scored the first four-goal lead in the following attack with a counter-attack. Oskar Vind and Felix Claar then increased again (13-7, 24th).

Although the injured Omar Ingi Magnusson and Elvar Örn Jonsson, who were rested in the test, were missing, SCM remained dominant in the second period. Matthias Musche scored to make it 20-14 (38th) and Felix Claar to make it 24-17 (44th). After that, Musche scored again on the wing and Gisli Kristjansson scored the 28-19 (49th).

So many spectators at a test match – that’s strong and incredibly fun

Over the entire 60 minutes, Wiegert gave the entire bench playing time – without the lead suffering as a result. The bottom line was a sovereign victory in the end.

Oskar Vind Rasmussen: “We’ve played two good games now and are getting better and better. Of course, there are still points where we can improve. But that’s normal in this phase. It is convenient for me that we have backcourt players who create a lot of space and that the team as a whole relies a lot on speed. What I also really like is the atmosphere. I’m used to a lot from GOG, but here it’s even more. So many spectators at a test match – that’s strong and incredibly fun. This support gives us extra energy.”
