SCM wins Bundesliga opener in Lemgo

SC Magdeburg starts the Daikin Handball Bundesliga with a win. At TBV Lemgo Lippe, coach Bennet Wiegert’s team won 33-29 (14-9) and thus secured the first points of the new season.
It started energetically. Felix Claar scored right in the opener, then Omar Ingi Magnusson added three goals and by the 9th minute it was already 6-0. It was not until almost a third of the way through the first half that the first goal was conceded – because the defence was mobile on its feet, shifted well and Sergey Hernandez provided support between the posts.
As the game progressed, the hosts also found their way into the game better and reduced the deficit to 9-6 (20th) from Magdeburg’s point of view. But SCM picked up the pace again, increasing it to 12-6 (26th).
In the second half, the course of the game was similar. Magdeburg looked for the one-one situations and scored again in the breakthrough, especially Omar Ingi Magnusson, who scored a total of 15 goals. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Matej Mandic was able to celebrate his debut in the SCM jersey. When he was substituted for the penalty throw in the 44th minute, his opposite number only hit the post.
Although Lemgo tried everything again and also used the seventh outfield player, the victory was no longer in danger. Through several easy goals into the empty goal, the lead even grew again.
