Home win! SC Magdeburg wins the first game of the Daikin Handball Bundesliga season in their living room at home. Against ThSV Eisenach, the team around coach Bennet Wiegert delivers from the start and wins 34-28.

The Magdeburgers started the game concentrated. Effective in attack, gripping in defence – the home team was able to gain an advantage in the first ten minutes (6-3). While the Eisenachers were forced to make mistakes several times, SCM gratefully took advantage of them.

The early time-out of the coach of ThSV Eisenach, Sebastian Hinze, in the 12th minute could do little to change this. Shortly afterwards, Daniel Pettersson scored, then Elvar Örn Jonsson increased the lead to 9-3 (14th). Afterwards, the guests reduced the deficit a bit (11-7, 18th), but the upswing did not last long. In the 24th minute, Magnus Saugstrup scored to make it 14-7, and in the meantime the lead increased to plus eight (17-9, 28th).

After the break, Eisenach changed the defense a bit and made sure that SCM had to regroup briefly. However, this discovery phase did not take much time. In the 44th minute, Sebastian Barthold scored to make it 26-18 and restore the old lead.

The final phase was then balanced, with Magdeburg faltering slightly. Bennet Wiegert readjusted with two time-outs – but too often his own inaccuracies were the biggest problem. However, the victory was not in danger for a minute. In the end, the score was a sovereign 34-28.
