The SCM YoungsterS had to admit defeat in the away game at HC Empor Rostock with 41:35 (21:19). This was Magdeburg’s heaviest away defeat of the season in terms of the number of goals conceded.

The YoungsterS found it difficult to gain access to the defense and did little to counter the intensity of the hosts. Magdeburg had difficulties especially in the duels. Rostock managed to gain advantages early on and extend them to 21-19 by halftime. In the further course of the game, the YoungsterS did not find any opportunities to turn the game around.

Despite the defeat, Pablo Lange and Monty Kleinsteuber, who compensated for the absence of Mattis Heiß with great commitment, showed strong performances.

“Overall, it wasn’t what we want to stand for. We’ve played a really, really good season, but the last two games have been relatively sobering and disappointing. Just not what we have worked for over the season,” coach Christoph Theuerkauf summed up the game.

In the table, the YoungsterS are still in seventh place with 33:23 points. The next game is already on Saturday, May 2nd, which is also the last home game of the season for the YoungsterS. The guest is HSG Eider Harde.

“We have to show willingness, intensity and will again to be able to win the last home game against Eider Harde against Eider Harde. I want us to show a different face and show a reaction,” said Theuerkauf.
