It was the end of a successful season: With a win in the last home game, the youngsters of SC Magdeburg crowned a strong season. With 35:25 points, they are in seventh place in the table and have already secured their place in the league ahead of schedule.

After the 14 games of the first half of the season, the YoungsterS had a record of eight wins, four defeats and two draws. Although the start of the season was not optimal with the defeat against the Füchse Berlin, the YoungsterS were able to quickly improve their performance. Four defeats are definitely strong compared to previous seasons, Theuerkauf assesses the first half of the season. A highlight was October, in which they won three games in a row.

“We are a young team, learn and have positive and negative experiences. It’s always primarily about individual training of the players so that they get closer to their dream of playing in the Bundesliga and becoming professionals. At the same time, we want to secure relegation as early as possible,” explains Theuerkauf. The Magdeburgers already achieved this goal in the course of the second half of the season. In one go, they were able to secure a victory against Leipzig and also the early relegation.

The second half of the season has also been quite successful for the YoungsterS so far. With eight wins, six defeats and one draw, they were able to enjoy five home wins in a row. The YoungsterS had to end the season with a defeat against HC Eintracht Hildesheim, but for coach Christoph Theuerkauf the highlights of the season outweigh the highlights, including the victory against DHK Flensborg. “Last year we lost both games narrowly, then drew the first leg this season. We have grown,” says Theuerkauf. Magdeburg was also one of the few teams to take a point against EHV Aue.

However, there were not only successes on the pitch. Christoph Theuerkauf extended his contract as coach of the YoungsterS in the course of the season until at least 2028. It’s a lot of fun to work with the guys. They are simply ready, have self-motivation and passion and I am already looking forward to the new season,” said the coach.

Nevertheless, some changes are planned for the new season. So the team and fans have to say goodbye to several players at once. At the same time, the team will receive reinforcements from its own junior team. With Oskar Pakebusch, Janne Pillich and Filip Begic, several players from the A-youth team move up to the squad.

With 35 points, the team achieved its best performance of the past two years. In addition, the Magdeburgers were able to score at least one point against every team in the league, with the exception of Hildesheim and Braunschweig. For Theuerkauf, the strong development of his boys individually and as a team can continue.
