Reunion with SCM Legend Bartosz Jurecki

It has been eleven years since Bartosz Jurecki last wore the SC Magdeburg (SCM) jersey.

On June 5, 2015, SCM played at home in the GETEC Arena. They lost to Rhein-Neckar-Löwen with a score of 27:32.

Despite the loss, fans celebrated Bartosz Jurecki. He scored seven goals that day. After the game, he said goodbye with tears and was added to the SCM Hall of Fame.

Bartosz is now 47 years old. He said, “It is hard to believe that it has been eleven years since I left Magdeburg.”

Since then, he has worked mostly as a coach. For three years, he has coached Corotop Gwardia Opole. This year, he wants to help them reach the play-offs.

Meeting Old Friends

Before the new season, Jurecki’s team will play against SC Magdeburg. This is a special match for him.

He will meet many old friends. They include Matthias Musche, assistant coach Yves Grafenhorst, and head coach Bennet Wiegert. These men also played for SCM.

Coach Wiegert said, “I am very happy to see him again. We played together for six years. We saw each other more often than our families back then.”

Wiegert also said, “We have met sometimes in handball. Now we have more time and can talk about things outside the game.”

The match will be on Saturday in Ilsenburg at 3 p.m. You can watch it live on volksstimme.de.

SCM won their first test match against HSC Coburg with 36:20. They hope to win again, even though there is a strong friendship between the teams.

Excited for the Game

Bartosz Jurecki is excited about the match. He said, “The atmosphere before the game is great. Many people in the city are talking about it.”

Some fans will travel with his team to watch the game.

Jurecki also coaches the Polish junior team.

He has stayed close to Magdeburg. He took part in the club’s 70th anniversary. He enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere. He also met many old friends from his time in Magdeburg.
