“It still feels even more exciting against Kiel”

The season is moving fast in the tight schedule of the HBL.
After a day of rest on Sunday, the Magdeburg team met again on Monday in the GETEC Arena.
They prepared for their next challenge – and it is a big one.
Because on Wednesday (7 p.m., live on Dyn) the THW Kiel will play in Magdeburg.
THW Kiel is not just the record champion on the Elbe River.
They are also the only team that took two points from SCM in the last HBL season.

This year, the “Zebras” made their team stronger again.
New players include the German national player Julian Köster and the well-known playmaker Domen Makuc.
Both have already made a strong first impression.
Under the new coach Børge Lund, THW Kiel started the season very well.
They won against Lemgo, Bietigheim, Göppingen, and Eisenach.
They also won at home against Hannover.
They only lost one point in a dramatic 31:31 game against SG Flensburg-Handewitt.

“Kiel is doing really well this year and has a strong team.
But we are also doing a good job, so we will win this game,” says Gisli Kristjansson.
“Games against Kiel always feel even more exciting.
You can have played such a game one hundred times and it is still special.
At home, with this atmosphere, and against a top team – that is what we want.”

Match of the Neighbors in the Table

Kiel is currently in second place in the league table.
They have the same number of points as the leader SG Flensburg-Handewitt.
SC Magdeburg is one point behind them.
For coach Bennet Wiegert, the table position is only part of the story:
“Whatever position the two teams have in the table, this match is something special.
It has developed this way over the last years.
It is a real top game, and we are very happy to play it here in front of our fans.”
