End of Season in Wetzlar: “Of Course We’ve Been Warned”

SC Magdeburg had busy days recently. They won the German championship. They received the trophy officially. They celebrated with their fans. Now, they have one last game in the Daikin Handball Bundesliga this season.

On Sunday at 3 p.m., SC Magdeburg will play against HSG Wetzlar. The game will be on Dyn TV.

SC Magdeburg is in first place. They have 9 points more than the second team, Füchse Berlin. So, they do not have much to lose in this game.

But HSG Wetzlar is in 16th place. They must fight to stay in the league. This is the last game of the season. They need points to avoid dropping to a lower league. They are close in points with GWD Minden, who are in 17th place.

Even though SC Magdeburg is in a good position, they want to play well and finish the season strong. Coach Bennet Wiegert said, “We want to finish the season well. Many fans from Magdeburg will be there. It is important to always do your best in this league.”

He added, “We do not want to start fighting to avoid relegation now. We want to control the game with confidence.”

HSG Wetzlar is a tough team. They played well against HSV Hamburg on Thursday but lost in the last minutes. They have a strong record at home. They have not lost their last 4 home games. They even won against THW Kiel.

Mathias Musche, the left winger of Magdeburg, said, “This will be a very tough game. Wetzlar is fighting to avoid relegation. We know it will be a big battle.”

He continued, “This is a special situation for us. But I am sure the team will focus on the game. We want to play our best and win as usual.”
