SCM Wins First Game in Test Tournament Against Host Aue

The coach of the third-division North Division team, Uwe Jungandreas, who also coached SCM before, said the game would be a “Herculean task.” This means it would be very hard. The game was against the German champions. He said the game was more for practice than for winning. Also, the game celebrated the 100th birthday of EHV Aue.

The match started with songs and loud shouts from the fans. Both teams were active. SCM scored a goal quickly. Bennet Wiegert, the coach, tried new ways to play both in attack and defense during the game. SCM kept winning by more goals.

At 24 minutes, Matthias Musche scored, making the score 19-10. After the break, SCM’s lead grew even more. Gisli Kristjansson scored to make the difference 10 goals. Oscar Bergendahl also scored and the score showed the difference in skill between the two teams.

Both teams still played well and made the hall lively and fun. Kristjansson was named the best player of the game.

Captain Magnus Saugstrup said after the game, “That was another good game for us. We tried many things and are happy to win again. Tomorrow we will play again and want to win.”

Other Games in the Tournament

In another game, the second division team SC DHfK Leipzig beat the Bundesliga team SG Flensburg-Handewitt 44-42. Because of this, Flensburg and Aue will play for third place on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The final game will be between Leipzig and SC Magdeburg. This will be a derby game starting at 4 p.m. Both games will be shown on sporteurope.tv.

Young Players in the European Championship

Two young players, Tim Thielicke and Malte Elze, are not playing in Erzgebirge. They are in Serbia with the German youth team. Two other young players from Magdeburg, Elvis Kretzschmar and Mats Brigzinsky, are also there.

They won a game against Spain (32-27) on Friday and are in the final. The final is on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. against Slovenia. The winner will get a gold medal.
